Did you know the linguistic origins of the word protein?

It comes from the Greek word - proteios - meaning "first place" or "primary" - which is fitting for a substance that is one of life's main components.

Today we're going to cover one of the most important nutrients out there - PROTEIN!

1st. Protein is the raw material that your body needs to build lean muscle. You need adequate protein intake to be in a positive nitrogen balance to recover from your workouts and stimulate new muscle growth. And the more muscle you have, the more bodyfat you'll burn 24/7 even while you are sleeping!

2nd. Protein increases your metabolism more than any other nutrient. It has a higher thermogenic effect, meaning when you eat protein it causes your body to burn more calories to digest and absorb those calories, compared to carbohydrates and fats.

3rd. Protein is very satiating and filling. Meaning you'll feel fuller with less calories compared to other foods. For example, if I asked you to eat 5 chocolate chocolate chip cookies, or 5 donuts... chances are everyone of you in this challenge would be able to do that and probably still have room for more afterwards. But if I asked you to eat 5 chicken breasts most of you would not be able to eat them all before you'd feel stuffed and sick of eating chicken breasts.

So today what I want you to do is take a photo of your favorite protein source and put it up in the group and let us know what you love to make with it.
