Steering of exceptional points in optical resonator

Researchers from the University of Warsaw, in cooperation with France's CNRS and the UK's University of Southampton, observed for the first time in the world in cavities made at Military University of Technology the annihilation of exception points originating from different degenerate points (at the degenerate point, for an ideal, lossless cavity, different cavity mods have the same energy).

New photonic system with electrically tuned topological features

The researchers succeeded in creating a system in which strong coupling of exciton excitations in two-dimensional perovskite with photons trapped in a birefringent photonic structure in the form of a two-dimensional optical cavity filled with liquid crystal was achieved.
