Subject: Cable-Barbell Hybrid Curls...forget the Shamrock Shake bicep exercises...
Bicep training...it's just downright fun. I look at it as
"training dessert" after you get the "meat" of your workout
done with heavy, basic exercises.
And just because it's dessert doesn't mean you should settle for the
McDonalds-level "Shamrock Shake" type of exercise that SEEM
good but doesn't actually give you anything real for your money.
If you're going to spend energy training biceps, you need to spend
it with HIGH-tension, targeted exercises that actually BUILD the
biceps...not just fill them with blood for 5 minutes.
These are the homemade apple pie and real ice cream exercises...
mmmmm.....apple pie and re.... (sorry, had a Homer Simpson moment
there :)
...these REAL exercises are just as much fun as the Shamrock-shake
exercises only with MUCH better results.
And that brings me to Cable-Barbell Hybrid Curls...
This is an AWESOME Hybrid technique that combines a cable curl
with a barbell curl to change the direction and strength curve of the
curl exercise.
In a barbell curl, when you hit the sticking point (elbows bent 90 degrees),
THAT is the weak link of the exercise. You can only use as much weight
as you can get past that point. When you pass it, the tension on the
biceps immediately drops.
With this Hybrid exercise, when you get past the sticking point, the
cable not only delivers even MORE muscle-building tension, it also
changes the DIRECTION of the tension so you're pulling directly
back and towards your face while also fighting gravity.
It's a VERY powerful concept and it takes just 10 seconds to set up
on any low-pulley machine.
