Tim Jubb is a self taught artist working on Cammeraygal Land, Sydney. He often chooses reclaimed supports on which to paint his expressive portraits or figures in surreal landscapes, upcycling them with the conviction that they bring a unique energy and a sense of time to his work.
In the 1983 song by The Smiths, ‘These Things Take Time’, Morrissey declares: “You know where you came from, you know where you’re going, and you know where you belong”.
Such knowledge on big questions about oneself isn’t always obvious. And does he mean where in the world? Or where spiritually? Or mentally? Or next to whom? Or where in life… or in time… or in human existence…?
Self and Whereness is Jubb’s first solo exhibition and documents three years spent navigating time, space and midlife; daily discomforts, existential anxieties and art.
