Dear Stargazers,
On January 14, Mercury will begin the first of four (yes, 4) retrograde cycles that will take place in in the coming year, For those of you who like to note the dates well ahead of time, you can click here to view my 2022 Mercury retrograde calendar.
Getting back tot he present, there's a lot going on in the heavens this week, so let's take a look at what is means for you! | | | TRANSITING NODES CHANGE SIGNS
There are two ways to calculate the transiting nodes, which is why some astrologers use the mean nodes while others (like myself) use the true node. Without going into the technicalities, let's just say there's no right or wrong way to calculate them (because neither method is really accurate), so it's a matter of personal choice.
If you use the mean node, then on December 22 the transiting nodes changed from Gemini and Sagittarius to Taurus and Scorpio.
However, if you use the true node, that shift will occur on January 18, 2022.
Either way, what does the shift into Taurus and Scorpio represent and what can you expect to experience during the next 18 months?
In astrology, Taurus and Scorpio represent two distinct types of tangible and intangible resources.
On the tangible side, Taurus rules money and possessions we earn and acquire, while Scorpio rules money and possessions that come to us from others (gifts, stimulus checks, mortgage money and credit card debt). As for the intangible, Taurus rules values and Scorpio rules other people's time and support.
Since the south node represents what we need to release, we can expect a shift in our thinking where we move away from the shadow side of Scorpio's reliance on other people's resources and the power that such dependency has over our lives.
In contrast, the north node speaks to where we're headed, so with the shift into Taurus we can expect to become more aware, and more focused, on financial independence and personal productivity.
If we do, we'll be in a much better position to initiate, take charge and blaze a new path when the north node moves into Aries. | | WEEKLY FORECAST: DECEMBER 27 - JANUARY 2 All dates are given in the Eastern Time Zone
Planetary Activity
Dec. 28: Jupiter enters Pisces Dec. 29: Mercury enters the pre-retrograde shadow Jan. 02: Mercury enters Aquarius Jan. 02: New Moon in Capricorn
Best Days: While there are other days during this time frame that are fine, these are the best of the bunch. What do I mean by the best? The energy is flowing, the moon isn't void and there's a greater likelihood for happy and/or productive outcomes.
Dec. 27, 31
Best Avoided: The energies on these days aren't favorable for new ventures or any activity where you want or need a definite result. If you must schedule something, you may have to think on your feet, or there may be a need for patience or flexibility.
Dec. 28, Jan. 1
Wednesday, Dec 29: Mercury conjunct Venus • Mars sextile Saturn
When Mercury and Venus embrace, the mind and the heart are on the same page, which makes it much easier to understand and express your feelings to others. Thanks to Mars sextile Saturn, you're likely to feel more assertive today, but the easy nature of the sextile means that your ego won't be demanding, which makes it easier to get along with others.
Thursday, Dec. 30: Mercury conjunct Pluto
Some of you may find yourselves preoccupied with an idea, memory or point of view today. On the one hand, this energy favors concentration, memory, research and problem solving which can make it a very productive influence. On the other hand, it can promote obsessive thinking, which means some of you may need to guard against dwelling on unhappy memories or past hurts.
Finally, if you're engaged in negotiations or disputes today, you can expect them to be intense, because this influence suggests an unwillingness to compromise. On that note, if at all possible it's best to postpone such discussions until another day.
Saturday, Jan. 01: Sun trine Uranus
You're likely to feel like socializing today, and the good news is that because of the Uranian influence, your urge to connect with other people will be easily satisfied by conversations via telephone, email, text or video chat. This transit can also stimulate creativity, and it's possible that some of you will discover a new interest or pastime. | | | TRANSITING JUPITER IN PISCES December 28, 2021 - May 10, 2022 October 28 - December 20, 2022 After making a brief visit earlier this year (May 13 - July 27), transiting Jupiter returns to Pisces for roughly 4.5 months, during which time it will travel through all 30 degrees of the Fish before moving into Aries on May 10. Then, after spending almost 5 months in the sign of the Ram, it will retrograde back into Pisces on October 28 where it will remain until December 20. As the ancient ruler of the Fish, Jupiter (optimism, expansion, prosperity) is dignified (strong) in Pisces (vision, imagination, idealism). Collectively speaking, we're likely to hear encouraging news and big promises about a better future during this time. At the same time, it's possible that we could experience the depressive, fearful and deceptive side of Pisces and hear discouraging news, fear mongering and outright lies. Fortunately, the outlook is a lot more positive on a personal level. After all, Jupiter didn't earn its title as the Greater Benefic by showing up empty handed, so you're far more likely to experience the side of Jupiter in Pisces that can make a dream (or several) come true. So which life areas are likely to be the recipient of some of Jupiter blessings ? That depends on your personal horoscope, but if you had a lucky break between January 18 - June 5, 2010 and/or September 9, 2010 - January 22, 2011 (the last time Jupiter was in Pisces), you may be in for a repeat performance. For those of you born under Pisces, at some point Jupiter will make a conjunction to your natal Sun. A conjunction is a powerful aspect that usually coincides with beginnings and/or endings. If it's time for something to leave your life, Jupiter's role as a planet of release can help that happen now, but since it's primary role is to expand what it touches, you're more likely to experience a new beginning that will come in the form of an opportunity. What type of opportunities? Again, it depends on your personal horoscope, but it's very common for Jupiter/Sun conjunctions to coincide with opportunities for romance, travel and social activities. Since the Sun describes how you enjoy expressing yourself, this energy can bring creative inspiration, motivate you to engage in a sport or learn a musical instrument or introduce you to an entertaining new hobby or pastime. Even if nothing spectacular happens, this is an optimistic, confidence boosting, feel good energy that promises to lift your spirits and encourage you to pursue your dreams. If you were born with Pisces rising, at some point Jupiter will reach the degree of your Ascendant. This represents the start of a major cycle of growth and expansion in your life. If you were born with Jupiter in Pisces, at some point you'll experience your Jupiter return. A Jupiter return occurs when transiting Jupiter returns to the same place it occupies in your natal horoscope. Of all the planetary returns, this is the one that gets the most hype. Since Jupiter rules exaggeration, this is actually quite fitting, and truth be told, Jupiter often fails to deliver on grandiose promises. So what can you expect from your Jupiter return? Well, that depends on the condition of your natal Jupiter. If your natal Jupiter and the aspects to it carry the potential for a huge financial windfall, there may be some big bucks on the way. If not, don't count on your Jupiter return to bring you bundles of cash. Even if your return doesn't bring you a happy Jupiter surprise, it will still bring you a clean slate and another 12-year opportunity to make the most of its natal promise. If you have any planets or sensitive points in Pisces (besides the Sun, Ascendant and Jupiter discussed above), at some point Jupiter will conjunct them. What can you expect/ In a nutshell, if Jupiter conjuncts your: Moon, you're likely to feel happy, optimistic and secure and/or there could be a positive change in your home Mercury, communications go smoothly now, and you may also have an opportunity to travel, teach, write or speak Venus, your finances, love life and/or self-esteem may receive a boost Mars, your enthusiasm, drive, energy and ability to tolerate risk are likely to be strong Saturn, professional matters are likely to go smoothly and opportunity may come your way Uranus, you may be in for some unexpected good fortune Neptune, your imagination, intuition, compassion or imagination may soar Pluto, your ambition and desire for control is likely to expand and you may get an opportunity that gives you more control in your life Chiron, you may experience some type of healing in your life North Node, a fated relationship may enter your life now Midheaven, you may win an award, be promoted, receive a big job offer or find yourself in the public eye, Jupiter in Pisces House by House As for the rest of you, let's take a look at some of the best that Jupiter has to offer for each of the 12 houses. On January 2, it enters the sign in direct motion but on January 14, it stations retrograde and will backpedal through the sign until January 25, at which time it will re-enter Capricorn.
Aquarius is the sign of Mercury’s exaltation, which means that whenever the planet of intellect is in the sign of the water bearer, his virtues are magnified and he displays his abilities in a profound and distinctive manner. Likewise, during this time you may feel inspired to push your intellectual boundaries and discover - or rediscover during its brief retrograde period - your own unique brilliance. | | | NEW MOON at 12°20' CAPRICORN January 13, 2021 | 6:49 PM EST As the tenth sign of the natural zodiac, Capricorn presides over career, calling, public status, honors and achievements, and that's why this new moon is perfect for setting intentions for professional advancement and/or public recognition.
