Subject: This Week's Astrology Update!

Dear Stargazers,

As discussed in this past Wednesday's newsletter, Venus stations retrograde today, and among other notable aspects, this week brings the final transiting square between Saturn in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus.

It also marks the December solstice, and as it happens it falls on December 21, which is my Dad's birthday. He's been gone 29 years, and I'm taking this opportunity to wish him (and his 29° Sagittarius Sun) a happy heavenly birthday, because I know he'll get a kick out of being mentioned in my newsletter.

And now, let's take a peek at what the heavens have in store for us.

PLANETARY FORECAST

December 20 - 26

All dates are given in the Eastern Time Zone.

BEST DAYS: While there are other days during this time frame that are fine, these are the best of the bunch. What do I mean by the best? The energy is flowing, the moon isn't void and there's a greater likelihood for happy and/or productive outcomes.

Dec. 20, 26

BEST AVOIDED: The energies on these days aren't favorable for new ventures or any activity where you want or need a definite result. If you must schedule something, you may have to think on your feet, or there may be a need for patience or flexibility.

Dec. 24

Notable Planetary Events

Monday, Dec. 20: Mercury trine Uranus

This transit can feel like a breath of fresh air as it stirs up excitement in the form of new ideas and social activities (even if it is only via Zoom). This influence may also inspire you to read a new book or start a new course of study about astrology or other metaphysical topics.

Tuesday, Dec. 21: Sun enters Capricorn

The Sun's entry into Capricorn marks the December solstice. More on this below ⬇️

Friday, Dec. 24: Saturn square Uranus

Today's transiting square at 17° Capricorn marks the last of three tense encounters this year between Saturn in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus (the prior two squares took place on February 17 and June 14).

A square is an action-producing aspect, and as such it motivates (or forces) us to confront matters that challenge our wants, needs or beliefs. Such confrontations may not be external. Instead, it could be something that we're wrestling with on an internal level.

Collectively speaking, these squares reflect the the ongoing theme of restriction and conformity (Saturn) versus freedom and self-determination (Uranus) that have dominated the headlines (and the courts) throughout 2021. In that respect, as Saturn and Uranus butt heads for the last time, it appears that Saturn has the upper hand.

On a personal level, as Saturn and Uranus go their separate ways, any challenges should be resolved, which may simply mean that you've learned how to work (and live) with it.

Saturday, Dec. 25: Venus conjunct Pluto

When Venus (love) merges with Pluto (obsession), you could meet someone who mesmerizes you like a moth to the flame. If so, you could end up getting scorched if the intensity of the union promotes jealousy and possessiveness, but if it doesn't, this may very well turn out to be a fated union in the highest sense.

What makes this aspect especially significant is the fact that Venus is retrograde, which often means that a new relationship isn't meant to last a lifetime, but rather is intended to be a karmic lesson for soul growth.

However, there's more to karma than learning lessons and paying debts. If you meet someone new during this cycle, it's possible that it's your time to reap a karmic reward. While I admit it's not the likeliest scenario, I've seen it happen enough times to know that it happens.

Sunday, Dec. 26: Mercury sextile Neptune

This easy flow of energy can improve your sensitivity, increase your intuition, inspire your imagination or motivate you along a spiritual path. On another note, whenever Neptune is connected to Mercury the mind is not as focused as usual, so it's usually best to avoid activities that require attention to detail. All in all, it's a great influence to kick back and relax.

DECEMBER SOLSTICE

December 21, 2021 • 11:00 AM EST

The December solstice occurs when the Sun enters Capricorn, and here in the northern hemisphere, it marks the shortest day of the year and the beginning of winter.

It’s a time to look within, connect with our higher selves and appreciate the stillness of the season, and as the shortest day of the year, the winter solstice is a time to celebrate the restorative spirit that dwells in all of us.

From this point forward, the days begin to grow longer, which is why the winter solstice celebrates the rebirth of the Sun.

In the southern hemisphere, the December solstice marks the beginning of summer. >>Read more.

To those who celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, Merry Christmas!

Until next week,

May Jupiter's blessings be your constant companion,
