With 4 planets stationing direct this month, October brings a welcome change of energy. This week sees Pluto and Saturn leading the way, and on October 18 Jupiter and Mercury will follow suit and the cosmic logjam will be broken. While it will take a little time for all of them to get back up to speed, the cosmic energy will be flowing and as the planets move forward, so will you.

In the meantime, this week offers several good energy days, although the new moon may turn out to be a cranky one for some of you.

Thursday, Oct. 07: Sun conjunct Mars

While this influence is often experienced as motivating, the ego-driven nature of this Sun-Mars combination can also promote competition, irritability and/or conflicts. Since the transiting Moon will be squaring Saturn and Pluto today, it increases the likelihood that you could feel frustrated or manipulated today. If so, you're likely to feel combative and may be quick to retaliate, which in turn will likely escalate matters and make them worse. Should you experience this side of the influence, engaging in some type of physical activity can help you release any aggressive tendencies, as well as help you blow off steam. However, a far better use of this influence would be to use its energy to work on a project or accomplish a goal.

Saturday, Oct. 09: Mercury conjunct the Sun and Mars

If used in a conscientious manner, the combined influence of these aspects can be very helpful if you need to negotiate, study or teach because it will help you think on your feet, as well as enhance your mental stamina. NEW MOON at 13°25' LIBRA

Like every Libra new moon, this one offers a new beginning in connection with all types of relationships, but its aspects to Mars and Uranus suggest that it may not come that easily. Rather, they suggest that some of you will need to rise up and demand to know exactly where you stand with someone.

On the upside, the new moon's conjunction to Mars infuses it with passion and confidence, and despite Mars not being at its best in Libra, it also adds a dose of initiative. However, they quincunx (uncomfortable) Uranus (instability), which tells us that there's some type of uncertainty afoot.

Since new moons represent beginnings, a likely scenario is that someone who is ready to take a big step forward in a personal or professional partnership will be getting mixed messages from their partner regarding the future of the union.

Given that the conjunction to Mars is exact, you can expect emotions as well as egos to be running high. That's why even though it may feel awkward, the person in limbo will ultimately summon up the courage to call their partner out.

Unfortunately, with Mercury retrograde in Libra at this new moon, one can't bank on getting a clear and/or reliable answer. In fact, whatever the outcome of the discussion, there's a good chance it will change after Mercury goes direct on October 18 and the true outcome won't be known until the time of the full moon on October 20.

Relationships aside, this new moon suggests that your intentions for a new start may require an adjustment or experience a delay.
