Hill House, Robin Donaldson

Crawford House, Thom Mayne

We're offering you two world premieres for the price of one with the double feature of The House: 6 Points of Departure and This Is Not A House. The House lets us in on the making of the Crawford House, which was designed by Tohm Mayne in Montecito, CA in the 1980s. The second film, This Is Not A House, is the renowned filmmaker Mogan Nevile's exploration of the recently completed Hill House by Robin Donaldson. These films have a unique connection, as Donaldson also served as the project manager for the Crawford House early in his career. After the screenings, Jack Murphy, Executive Editor of The Architect's Newspaper will moderate a Q&A with important figures from both films including Robin Donaldson, Lynda Weinman, Bruce Heavin, Susan Goggin Crawford, and Gregg Goggin.

Sitting Still Trailer

Sitting Still is yet another world premiere. This film tells the story of the legendary urbanist and landscape architect Laurie Olin. Sitting Still shows the profound social vision of this irreverent urban warrior. Olin is responsible for many of the most iconic and beloved parks, gardens, and public spaces in the country, including the Getty Center Gardens, Battery Park City, Columbus Circle, the National Gallery of Art’s sculpture garden, the Washington Monument grounds, Bryant Park, Mission Bay, and Independence Mall, to name only a few. This portrait of an artist is told through a prism of concerns that have defined his life’s work. After the Saturday screening, Laurie Olin will answer questions alongside Gina Angelone, the film's director.
