Subject: ADFF:Chicago Feb 1 - Special guests added for opening night!

January 31, 2023

ADFF:Chicago starts this Wednesday at the Chicago Architecture Center, which will be fully transformed into three separate film-watching spaces. There will be many exciting films, conversations, and events for ADFF:Chicago auidences to enjoy in person.

Here are some ADFF:Chicago highlights to look forward to:

Bruce Mau and Bisi Williams

After the opening night screening of Fashion Reimagined, we'll be joined by two special guests – Bruce Mau and Bisi Williams – for a conversation. Bruce and Bisi co-founded the Massive Change Network and were featured in last year's opening night film, MAU. There will also be an opening night party at CAC.

Opening night is sold out, but tickets are still available for the February 5 screening of Fashion Reimagined.

Jan Louter, Director of Under Tomorrow's Sky

Director Jan Louter will be joining us all the way from the Netherlands! Louter will discuss his film, Under Tomorrow's Sky, an open-hearted documentary following renowned architect Winy Maas as he lays out his visions for the city of the future.

Troiane (2020), one of the 12 selected shorts

We have a special offering, only available for ADFF:Chicago attendees. We will be showing a curated selection of 12 short films from past seasons of ADFF. These films will play for free in the Chicago Gallery for the duration of the festival.

We'll also screen a few films that focus on important issues of gentrification and redlining. One program will be the Chicago premiere of Committee of Six, which explores a 1950s Hyde Park meeting about zoning as seen through the lens of 2020. This will show with a short film called Segregated by Design, based on the book The Color of Law. We will also be showing Alice Street, which tells the story of a group of artists who pulled together a diverse Oakland community to slow the rapid pace of gentrification.

We'll screen many other Chicago premieres, including (but not limited to) the following films:

Concrete Landscape

GES-2

Builders, Housewives and the Construction of Modern Athens
