Happy New Year from ADFF! The second half of our 2022/23 season takes place this January and February.

ADFF:DC January 26-29 at the National Building Museum

Tickets are on sale now for ADFF:DC. 


Most films will screen only one time, and there are many great events happening in the festival lounge. Tickets for ADFF:DC are sold by the day rather than per screening. You can also purchase an all-access pass and join us every day for all of the fun and films. BUY YOUR ALL-ACCESS PASS!


Thursday, Jan 26 - The opening night film is Alice Street, a film about how an Oakland community comes together around public art and stays united, despite the pressures of gentrification. Following the film, there will be a conversation moderated by Ryan Patterson, the Public Art Project Manager for Maryland State Arts Council. The panel will feature Spencer Wilkinson (Alice Street Director), Lailan Sandra Huen (Housing Activist), and Eliane Asal (Strategy Director / Regional Consulting Practice Area Leader of Gensler). Friday, Jan 27 - Doors open at 5:00 PM with an ADFF happy hour and food available. There will also be a photography exhibit featuring DC artists Ahmed Akari, Steven Cummings, and James Singewald. The early screening block starts at 6:00 and is a choice of three films: Robin Hood Gardens, Grethe Meyer – The Queen of Danish Design, or Committed of Six, which will be followed by a conversation about redlining with special guests Director Fred Schmidt-Arenales and Producer Ellenor Riley-Condit, moderated by DC Historian Sarah Shoenfeld. After the first set of films, there is time for more food and drinks. The second selection of films begins at 8:15. You can choose from Maija Isola – Master of Colour and Form, Beyond the Life of Forms, and Builders, Housewives and the Construction of Modern Athens. BUY FRIDAY TICKETS!


Saturday, Jan 28 - Doors open at 5:00 PM with an ADFF happy hour and food available. In addition to screenings, attendees can learn more about sustainable clothing industry leaders and pick up a one-of-a-kind piece from local vendors Tribute Collective, Bitter Grace, and Illicit Rag Vintage at a pop-up market in the ADFF Lounge. The early screening block starts at 6:00 and is a choice of three films:  A World to Shape, Building Bastille! The Tangled and Improbably Story of the Opera Bastille, and Under Tomorrow's Sky. After the first block, there will be food and drinks in the lounge and a pop-up sustainable fashion display. The second selection of films begins at 8:15. You can choose from Fashion Reimagined, Concrete Landscape, and GES-2. There will be a sustainable fashion panel discussion following the Fashion Reimagined screening, moderated by Rebecca Ballard (Founder/Owner of The Fashion Connection + Maven Women). The panel features Marianna Sachse (Founder of Jackalo) and Joelle Firzli (Fashion Professional & Independent Researcher with Tribute Collective). BUY SATURDAY TICKETS!


Sunday, Jan 29 - Doors open at 10 AM for this one-of-a-kind ADFF brunch event. We kick off the morning with the first-ever Go-go Brunch, featuring TOB in the Festival Lounge. There will also be an exhibit of photojournalist Dee Dwyer's work. This will be followed by a 12 PM screening of Barry Farm: Community, Land, and Justice in Washington, DC. After the film, there is a panel with Directors Sabiyha Prince and Samuel George, and Community Partner Coleman Hall. After the intermission, the second selection of films starts at 2:30 PM. You can choose between Bawa's Garden, Alice Street, and Committee of Six. BUY SUNDAY TICKETS!

ADFF:DC is presented with the National Building Museum and the Revada Foundation of the Logan Family.

ADFF:CHICAGO February 1-5 at the Chicago Architecture Center

After a long hiatus, ADFF:Chicago is back at the beautiful Chicago Architecture Center. There will be 28 screenings in two theaters, along with a complimentary selection of 12 short films.


Fashion Reimagined had its world premiere at Tribeca Film Festival and has screened at over 30 other film festivals. Opening night of ADFF:Chicago will be its Chicago Premiere. The film is followed by a party. BUY OPENING NIGHT TICKETS!


There are six screenings on Thursday, including a 5:45 screening of Under Tomorrow's Sky and a Q&A with Director Jan Lauter.


Over the weekend, there are 14 screenings, conversations, and panels, including a Q&A with Committee of Six's director, Fred Schmidt-Arenales. Between films, get a drink or snack and watch a curated selection of some of the best shorts shown over the last 14 seasons of ADFF.
