Voices from the Field: Stories of Change from HAP-Supported Communities

The Health for All (HAP) project has collected a series of mini-stories of impact from family doctors, nurses, psychologists and patients from the most recent health centres supported by the project, offering a clear picture of how primary health care reforms are translating into tangible improvements in the daily practice of professionals and the lived experience of Albanian citizens.

ACTIVITIES

HAP convened its 21st Steering Committee meeting on 5 December 2025 at the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, bringing together key health authorities, international partners and project leadership to review progress and discuss priorities as the project approaches its final year.

During the first semester of the Yearly Plan of Operations 2025–2026, HAP successfully delivered all planned activities, reinforcing its contribution to a more accessible and integrated primary health care (PHC) system for Albanian citizens in general and vulnerable groups in particular.

Since September 2025, HAP, in close collaboration with four regional health operators in Tirana, Vlora, Elbasan and Shkodra, has supported the establishment of a network of nurse trainers focused on Home-Based Health Care. This initiative represents an important step towards the sustainability of HAP interventions, as local health authorities progressively take ownership of training processes.

INTERVIEW

Dr. Ariana Hylviu has worked for nine years as both a family physician and the Director of the Golem Socio-Health Centre, Kavaja, which provides services to around 13,500 residents. In this interview, she shares her insights on the main challenges in elderly care, the impact of recent professional trainings, and the importance of teamwork in ensuring dignified and comprehensive care for the elderly.

HAP Finalises Manual for Psychologists in Primary Health Care
