20th Steering Committee Meeting: Here are HAP’s Activities for 2025-2026

On April 3, 2025, HAP organised the 20th Steering Committee meeting of the project to present and approve the Annual Activity Plan for the third year of the Consolidation Phase, covering the period from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026. The meeting concluded with the approval of the Annual Activity Plan and the commitment of partners to further expand HAP interventions.

ACTIVITIES

HAP successfully completed the distribution of 831 physical examination kits to 46 health centres across 10 Local Units of Health Care in the country empowering family doctors and nurses to provide higher-quality services to patients.

The training of trainers on the “Use of the Guide for Managing Mental Health Disorders in Primary Healthcare” was successfully completed with the participation of primary healthcare professionals from selected health centres in Tirana, Elbasan, Korça, Berat, Bulqiza, and Shkodër.

As part of the efforts to improve home care services, the HAP project has provided 32 Health Centres across 10 Local Units of Healthcare with home care service sets consisting of 25 pieces of equipment designed to facilitate and enhance the delivery of Home Care Services.

On 13 February 2024, HAP organised the Annual Planning Workshop for the third year of the Consolidation Phase (April 2025 – March 2026), bringing together key representatives and partners of the project to define priorities and core activities for the development of primary healthcare in Albania.

INTERVIEW

Dr. Erion Hamiti has been a family doctor at the Gjyrale Health Post, Gostimë Health Centre, Elbasan, since 2008. As a facilitator, Dr. Hamiti has supported the establishment of Peer Groups for managing non-communicable diseases and elderly care. In this interview, he shares his experience on the role of trainings conducted with the support of HAP in improving daily clinical practice and achieving better health outcomes for patients.

Mapping of Socio-Health Services: Consultative Roundtables in Durrës, Lezhë, and Fier

As part of the mapping of socio-health services, HAP organised consultative roundtables in the municipalities of Durrës, Lezhë, and Fier to promote the coordination of service providers and the available information, ensuring a clearer and more comprehensive overview of the services accessible to vulnerable groups.

HAP Introduces the Albanian Model at the International Conference on Home Care in Ukraine

On February 20, 2025, Act4Health Ukraine held the international conference “Comprehensive Home-Based Care for a Person in Ukraine” bringing together international experts to discuss the future of home healthcare in the country. HAP’s Health for All Project Manager, Dr. Besim Nuri, was invited as an international expert and speaker to share the challenges and solutions the project faced since introducing home care services in Albania in 2021.

HAP’s Article on the Impact of Medical Equipment on the Patients’ Quality of Life Gets Published in SDC’s Health Newsletter

The article titled “Empowering Care at Home: The Impact of Medical Equipment on the Quality of Life of Patients and their Carers” was published in the April 2025 edition of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) newsletter. The article features real-life testimonials from doctors, nurses, patients, and caregivers, highlighting the vital role that medical equipment plays in improving patients’ quality of life, easing the burden on caregivers, and enabling healthcare teams to provide more professional and effective care.

HAP & Pema e Jetës: Physiotherapy, a Light of Hope for People with Multiple Sclerosis

The Pema e Jetës Foundation organised an advocacy meeting titled “Physiotherapy: A Light of Hope for People with Multiple Sclerosis”, bringing together healthcare professionals, policymakers, and stakeholders to highlight the critical role of physiotherapy in improving the lives of individuals with multiple sclerosis and beyond.
