Friend,
Performance is defined as an act of staging or presenting a play, concert, or other form of entertainment.
When you’re performing, you’re putting on a show.
When you’re performing, your aim is to entertain.
When you’re performing, you play a character.
When you perform, you expect to be witnessed.
But if your goal in marketing isn’t to entertain — it’s to educate...
If your goal isn’t to play a character — it’s to be yourself...
If your goal isn’t just to get views — it’s to create real impact...
Then why perform?
As a performer AND a marketing strategist, I know there’s a time and place for performance.
But in most of your content, you want people to experience you.
Not someone putting on a show.
Most of us feel like we have to play a character…because we learn from what we see.
And what we often see on our feeds… are characters.
But you don’t have to be someone else.
You just have to be you.
I know being you doesn’t always feel like it’s enough.
I didn’t believe this either when I first started marketing my brand online.
But after 10+ years in digital marketing, I can tell you this with confidence:
𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡.
Because there’s no one like you, and people are craving authenticity.
Heh...ironically, being real is the thing that feels fresh.
Because it’s so rare to come across.
In this week’s video, I break down:
✨ The difference between performing and being seen
✨ Why “polished” often comes across as stiff (and what to do instead)
✨ How showing up as your real self builds more trust in your personal brand than any script ever could
