Feathers

The idiom "birds of a feather flock together" appears in literature at least as far back as 1545 AD, but as a proverb and metaphor it likely goes back much farther in history.  Using "feathers" as the name for our newsletter highlighting events sponsored by other organizations seems fitting.  It reminds us that there are other "flocks" worth getting to know, building relationships with, and learning from.

Leonardo’s Christmas Tale:
Abandoning Adoration of the Magi
to Paint Virgin of the Rocks
This lecture explores the theology and ‘two Jesus children heresy’ of Leonardo da Vinci and his students. We will focus on why Leonardo da Vinci abandoned his masterpiece, the Adoration of the Magi, in order to paint Virgin of the Rocks, as a result of the insights he gained being initiated within the Accademia Platonica mystery center.

Holy Nights 2020-21

Each year since 1996 I have hosted a Holy Nights gathering and activity, to engage in the mystery of the Earth in its free and conscious relationship with the universe of stars that surrounds it.  This year, my program will be presented entirely online, several weeks ahead of the Holy Nights themselves, with a particular emphasis on the role of the Divine Feminine in awakening this star knowledge.

Registration includes invitation to the live webinar on December 8, guidance for contemplating the human biography in relation to the stars throughout the cycle of the year, as well as downloadable and print-ready materials for the journey across the threshold of the new year.  Star maps, companion stories from different cultural traditions, artistic activity rooted in the rainbow of colors as they are articulated through the zodiac, and access to the event recording are all part of registration materials.

Guidance in Esoteric Training
Current Offering by Lelan Harris

This course offers information and counsel for challenging questions, plus offers insight and help for all the apparent obstacles and impediments that seem to hinder our spiritual progress.

Each week’s free two-hour session includes:

● Experiences of grounding & connecting, alignment, and opening sacred space, as well as developing relationships with Christ and Sophia, angelic beings, and the so-called dead;

● A short, developmental, spiritual formation teaching based upon or related to Rudolf Steiner’s book, Guidance in Esoteric Training;

● A time for all of us to be both co-learners and co-teachers as we share our stories and discoveries, our questions and answers;

● A short closing exercise.

Our weekly gatherings welcome everyone seeking and striving to become a “fully upright” human being characterized by freedom and love. Together we “endeavor to unite the spiritual element within the human being to the spiritual in the universe” (Rudolf Steiner).

Free Online Interactive Course Wednesdays at 5:00 Pacific (UTC -8)
Video Recordings Available within a few days of each session.

Meditative Thoughts for the Holy Nights
Ross Rentea, MD

One cannot exercise anthroposophical medicine (or any other anthropropsophical work) without Anthroposophy, and one cannot understand Anthroposophy without taking in consideration the Stars.  So, to conclude in Aristotelian fashion, one cannot do any anthroposophical work without the Stars.

Connecting to this year’s Great Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn that will lead us into the next year, we will:

  • discuss an amazing formula that will allow us to find the constellations with no additional equipment except for our mind;
  • present a eurythmy form;
  • touch on important meditative practices;
  • show practical medical and other work as it may relate to the Stars.
Free Webinar: December 16, 7:00-8:30 PM, Central (UTC -6)
Post event recording will be available for a modest fee.
