The Flow
I love the image Rilke gives in the poem, "The Swan."
"The water . . . receives him gently
and . . . with reverence and joy,
draws back past him in streams on either side."
We see how this creature, so awkward on land, moves effortlessly once it lets go and follows its nature.
Teaching with Sage Cohen this month had the same quality of effortlessness for me.
Lately I'm letting go, more deeply, of who I think I should be. I'm creating in places where I'm joyful and at ease. Yes, I have a newsletter to write. But I can still pause and draw a swan.
If you're fighting your creativity, perhaps it's time to let go. Fall.
Move with the flow. Stop trying to be agile on land when you're a water creature.
For me, this means accepting qualities such as my introversion. I'm a people person, but not an extrovert. I can't interact every day without recharging. I have to create wide margins for myself. Sometimes I feel slow and backward. It's okay.
There are a dozen ways, every day, I accommodate my nature.
Once I land on that water, I glide, and I know: yes, this is me.
What is your way? What is truly you?
Be that. Free yourself. Flow.
_____
I'm excited about flowing with other teachers I admire and enjoy, such as yoga instructor, Jenna Abernathy.
Our workshop April 26, the last Saturday of this month, is going to
help us flow in the stories of our lives. Details in the works. Drop me
an email to get on the list.
