Balancing the Portals The vertical and the horizontal |

| I think of life-infused moments as verticals, as portals. I'm fascinated by the vision of an opening, a glimpse into something beyond. There's a discovery, a hope, a meaning, and a splash of gratitude that li'l old me got to experience something extraordinary.
The feeling can happen when we're writing. It can happen when we're walking by a river or stretching our bodies—not thinking about duties and obligations—immersed.
I'm grateful for chances to step with you through the portals, high and low, or blessedly off-grid. Here are a few that will take us horizontally into fall . . . and vertically into delight.
