Subject: Discipline of Gratitude

Dear Friend,

I love this Nouwen quote. When I think about a disciplined individual, it’s someone who regularly practices a behavior because they believe the long term outcome is worth the consistent effort. I think we can all agree that gratitude is both good for the soul and worth the effort.

While nothing replaces the spontaneous joyful responses of gratitude, it’s a quiet marvel how the sincere practice of saying thank you requires me to pause and be reminded that I am responding to having been given something.

Thanksgiving is the sweetest expression of this discipline. So in this season, it is my deep joy to thank you for being a part of the Five Talents community!

Because of your faithful generosity, we have been able to support over 295,751 women and men toward a better life outside of extreme poverty. This year alone, over 14,000 new members joined our Savings Group programs to receive financial literacy training in a community of love, support and accountability.

Thank you for your partnership — you have made all the difference in someone’s life.

Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful and blessed Thanksgiving!
