Subject: URGENT ACTION NEEDED: PROPOSED BUDGET DETAILS THE ELIMINATION OF DEDICATED AFTERSCHOOL AND SUMMER FUNDING!

On the evening of May 30, 2025, the Trump Administration posted its full FY26 budget proposal that includes the elimination of dedicated afterschool and summer funding, cuts, and consolidation of programs - putting millions of children and families at risk. These programs are vital lifelines for working families, helping kids stay safe, supported, and engaged beyond school-time hours.

According to Afterschool Works for America, these cuts would impact over 23,000 children within 152 Virginia communities.

If you haven't already, send a message to your members of Congress urging them to protect funding for afterschool and summer learning programs.

Find out what this means for afterschool programs and afterschool STEM learning, and watch the Afterschool Alliance's Current Policy page for updates.
