Subject: Pete Rubinas Named SMART Recovery USA Executive Director; Hosts Volunteer Month Town Hall Tonight

Hello SMART Community,

The SMART Recovery USA Board of Directors voted on April 16th to name Pete Rubinas the organization’s Executive Director, removing “Acting” from the title of the position he has held since December 1, 2022.

“Pete has done an exceptional job leading SMART USA over the last four and a half months during a time of transition for our organization. He has earned the trust of the National Office team, our volunteer leaders, and our Board of Directors. He is collaborative, detail-oriented, and visionary in his thinking” said Board President Bill Greer.

Pete’s vision includes a more inclusive SMART Recovery, something he has worked hard to achieve first as a volunteer, then as Organizational Culture Change Facilitator, and now as leader of the organization.

“If we collectively stay focused on empowering one another at all levels of the organization,” Rubinas says, “SMART Recovery will become a household name, and the demographics of those we serve will have expanded dramatically from where we started.”

Drawing on his business experience from a decade at PricewaterhouseCoopers and his nonprofit leadership experience as chief executive of a Montessori education community, Pete has the skills and the temperament necessary to lead an increasingly diverse organization into a vibrant future.

If you’d like to ask Pete any questions, or have input that you’d like him to consider as he starts this next phase in his SMART Recovery journey, you are invited to join him at 8pm ET tonight at the Volunteer Town Hall meeting: https://smartrecovery.zoom.us/j/94761260202

SMART Recovery is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
