Subject: Consistency without pressure

What I've learned about consistency, motivation, and returning to practice.

Hi Friend,

For a long time, I thought consistency came from motivation.

If I could just stay inspired, stay disciplined, or push a little harder, then surely practice would become easier.

What I eventually learned is that consistency has very little to do with feeling motivated all the time.

Life gets busy.

Energy changes.

Schedules shift.

The musicians who stay connected to their playing are not necessarily the most motivated.

They're the ones who have found a way to return.

I recently published a new article called:

Consistency Without Pressure
What Actually Helps Us Stay Consistent

In it, I explore why many practice plans fail, why motivation naturally comes and goes, and what has helped me—and many of my students—build a more sustainable relationship with practice.

I hope it encourages you to be a little gentler with yourself the next time motivation dips.

Consistency is not built by never falling off track.

It is built by knowing how to come back.

Never stop playing,
