Pickles the Cat Helping my Mom Rake Leaves

Welcome to September. A month of change. The weather is shifting, daylight is shifting, leaves are turning, schedules are changing with back-to-school, and back to being in the office more hours after the pandemic work from home era.
While change is normal and inevitable, our pets like routine. When change happens, they feel the wobble. They can become clingier and more unsettled.
That sudden quiet house or shorter walk schedule can spark stress behaviors. Remember, your dog, your cat didn’t forget you—they just need a reset and a little help finding balance again.
Pets show stress in subtle ways: clinginess, pacing, vocalizing, or even litter box changes. Their nervous systems are deeply tuned to ours, so when routines wobble, they mirror the tension. Creating consistent rhythms—meals, walks, snuggle time—helps them feel secure. Energy balancing and calm presence allow their bodies to co-regulate with us, shifting them back into ease. |

Tip for Calming Your Cats and Dogs When Leaving Your House:
Before leaving the house, pause with your pet. Inhale for 4, exhale for 6, while gently stroking their chest in slow, steady motions. Repeat for one minute. This grounds both of you, creating a calm signal they’ll learn to trust and feel safe when you leave for the day. |
