This Sunday @ UCC: Let It Be Easy - Karen Drucker
|
|
(inspired by lyrics by Karen Drucker):
“Let it be easy. Now that I see the light, I won’t work on, day and night.
I vow to take good care of me. Let it be easy. I don’t need to run a race.
I’m choosing ease and grace, enjoying the ride. Let it be easy. I heard a voice calling to me,
‘Let it be easy.’ I make the choice to trust my voice. Let it be easy.” |

| | | February Heart of the House - Vernon Howell
|
| Vernon Howell, a native Floridian, was born just a few miles away at Morton Plant Hospital and grew up in Lakeland. A distinctive graduate of the University of Tampa, he was the oldest in his class of over 800, proving that it’s never too late to achieve academic goals put on hold.
Following a move to Charlottesville, VA, he enrolled in a Citizen, Scholar, Student of Writing program at the prestigious University of Virginia, but then returned to Florida where he earned his BLS (Bachelor of Liberal Studies) with a degree tract in intensive writing at the University of Tampa. It seems he was always destined to pursue a journalistic career, not only writing newspaper articles but also doing interviews for a radio station when only a teen.

| | | | RELAX AND LET THE HEALING HAPPEN.
“A counselor was once called to a hospital to visit a young woman . . . . She was having severe headaches and prolonged crying spells. Drugs and medication had brought no relief. Her mother was frantic with fear, saying: ‘I can’t understand what has happened. This girl has always been such an obedient child. She has never disagreed with me, nor crossed me in any way. But now she is saying terrible things to me. She tells me I’ve ruined her life, that I have kept her from getting a job and working; that I’ve kept her from marrying and having a normal life. To be sure, I never encouraged her to work, because she had always been a timid, sickly child. There was no financial reason for her to work, and so I insisted hat she remain at home and help out there, thinking it would provide her with a more pleasant way of life. Now she’s criticizing and condemning me for it. She suddenly seems to hate me.’
The daughter felt quite guilty about having turned against her mother, but she said she could not help it. When assured by the counselor that she was reacting in a normal way, she began to relax. As she did, the severe headaches left her completely. Her crying ceased. She was able to retain food again, and soon her strength returned. . . . The hostility toward her mother soon faded away. Further talks with this mother and daughter helped them both to realize that this experience had been for good . . . .
Your dear ones must have liberty to live their own lives, and you must grant it to them, or else you will create problems for them and for yourself. If you want to free yourself from all types of problems in mind, body, and affairs, you must release others to find their good in their own way. A clear channel is then opened for great good to come to all involved. Your own freedom and well-being depend upon such release, as to the freedom and well-being of your loved ones.”
