Dear praying friends,

Here's a snapshot of the last several weeks here with some praise items to thank God for.

  • I (Todd) visited Biljana and Djeno in Croatia where we spent the day doing Bible translation editing in the Chergash Roma dialect. Praise God for progress we made in editing the storybook with 50 Bible stories, as well as the Gospel of Mark. In Mark we were specifically checking passive verbs better used as active, rhetorical questions, idioms and irony.
  • Then I went to the other side of Croatia to meet with Natasha, Renata and Nedeljko. But when I woke up that morning, my computer would not start. Long story short: we were able to only spend part of a day checking the storybook of 50 Bible stories in the Bayash Roma dialect. It was disappointing, yet we rest in God's providence.
  • I spent the next week trying to recover lost data and getting my computer running again. Praise God that I was able to do so, and praise him for a very helpful, servant-hearted Pioneers colleague here in Budapest who helped me a lot.
  • Stephen and Elizabeth came up from Pecs to Budapest, Hungary, so Pam and I could go to Vienna, Austria, for a night and day to celebrate our 28th anniversary early. We praise God for such serving kids, and we praise God that an Austrian missionary just "happened" to be at a conference last month where we were, and just "happened" to mention a Christian couple in Vienna who let missionaries stay free overnight in Vienna. So we were able to stay free with that family!
  • We enjoyed a visit from missionary colleagues from Croatia who came to our house, and then as a family we went down to Serbia to visit missionary colleagues there.
  • During our stay in Serbia, I met with Goran, Kada and Emrush, and we worked together for the day on translation into the Gurbet and Arli Roma dialects. We made edits to the storybook of 50 stories, and also checked Matthew for passive verbs, rhetorical questions, irony and idioms.

  • We enjoyed celebrating Mother's Day at the park here with wonderful gyros after church. Praise God with us that Pam is such a great mom!
  • Then we hosted four young ladies who are touring Hungary and Romania with the Moody Chorale from Moody Bible Institute. They blessed our church with a beautiful concert and us as a family when they stayed at our house.
Thanks for your prayers and encouragement!

Todd
