Last October I purchased Sure Fit Designs from Glenda Sparling, the founder of Sure Fit Designs since 1982. I am a seamstress and I have studied tailoring and fitting for decades, sewing for other people and local theatre. I had joined the Sure Fit Designs private Facebook group in 2015 and enjoyed cheering all of you on your successes. When I read the post that Glenda was retiring, there was a tug on my heart. It was when a woman had posted that she had scoliosis and had finally made a shirt that fit that made me consider whether I could intervene and purchase Sure Fit Designs so it could continue.
I still practice as a full-time registered nurse first assistant in the OR and work most often in neurosurgery, where we are making surgical correction of the spinal deformities that make fitting clothing difficult. My coworker who makes surgical hats as a hobby surprised me with this one, she knows where a large portion of my heart is.
Sure Fit Designs was purchased as a gift to its dedicated community and to continue the education of sewing clothing that fits. Sure Fit Designs has been more than just another brand for all of us; it's been a source of inspiration, creativity and connection, regardless of where we live on the globe. I could not be more honored to have joined the team of talented women that I have introduced you to.
Our first goal is our dedication to supporting you. I am having the best time working with you regarding the solutions you need to finish your projects so you will be inspired to start the next one. Besides emails and zoom calls, I have surprised many of you with phone calls and chats to help resolve your concerns. Please always reach out to your distributor with your questions, we are here for you.
I have been working on many projects related to product improvement and development. There are a few tools that have been discontinued in the past few years and we are super excited to be launching them very soon. Be on the lookout for the T-square, the Line Drafter, and a few other surprises coming your way soon.
We are continuing to create new designs and developing new educational opportunities to collaborate and teach. I am so looking forward to our future plans for you.
Thank you for being part of our sewing community! If you ever have questions or ideas, we’d love to hear from you! Happy stitching!
