Laughter is the best medicine.

We're not too strict about what we consider a "humor" book. Humorous essays, collections of jokes, comedian autobiographies—if you're laughing, it counts. Here are a few of our favorites :)

Bossypants by Tina Fey
From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live, comedian Tina Fey reveals all, and proves that you're no one until someone calls you bossy.
Dad is Fat by Jim Gaffigan
Stand-up comedian Jim Gaffigan, who's best known for his legendary riffs on Hot Pockets, bacon, manatees, and McDonald's, expresses all the joys and horrors of life with five young children—a cry for help from a man who has realized he and his wife are outnumbered in their own home.

A book that sums up the human race: What we looked like; what we accomplished; our achievements in society, government, religion, science and culture. Here is the definitive guide to our species—completely unburdened by objectivity, journalistic integrity, or even accuracy.
Furiously Happy: A Funny Book About Awful Things
Furiously Happy: A Funny Book About Awful Things by Jenny Lawson
New York Times bestselling author Jenny Lawson explores her lifelong battle with mental illness in this hysterical, ridiculous book about crippling depression and anxiety. That sounds like a terrible idea. But terrible ideas are what Jenny does best.
Gumption by Nick Offerman
The star of Parks and Recreation and author of the best-selling autobiography Paddle Your Own Canoe pays tribute to inspiring American mischief makers, from George Washington to Willie Nelson, while expounding on such topics as religion, handcrafting and meat.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen, Seth Grahame-Smith
A mysterious plague has fallen upon the quiet English village of Meryton—and the dead are returning to life! Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet is determined to wipe out the zombie menace, but she's soon distracted by the arrival of the haughty and arrogant Mr. Darcy.
Astronaut, My Nose Itches
Fun fact: Astronauts sometimes attach velcro to their helmets so they can scratch their nose—they can also use the microphone in their helmet as an improvised scratching post!
Raffles: Paint Party & Knit Kit

Time to get creative! The winner of this week's Paint Party raffle will enjoy a fun night of DIY painting (no experience necessary!) at Board and Brush in Southington, plus a painted "choose kindness" sign and a gift card to Five Guys

Two lucky knitters will win knitting supplies, knitted items, and knitting/crochet books in this week's Knit Kit raffle. The baskets were donated by our Sit & Knit group, which meets at the library every Thursday!

You could be the lucky winner, so get those tickets in before Thursday!
