Total Eclipse of the Sun—Tomorrow!

A total solar eclipse happens when the moon passes directly in front of the sun— and the results are absolutely breathtaking.

You might not be able to see tomorrow's eclipse in Connecticut, but you can at least enjoy it from the comfort of home. The eclipse, which is happening July 2 at 4:00 pm in Chile, will be broadcast live by NASA.

Short Story Collections

Short stories can be like a whole universe in a grain of sand, capturing a single scene or character in a way that doesn't happen in novels. And it doesn't hurt that they're short—if you don't enjoy one, it's no big loss. Check out one of these collections, or browse the catalog for more.

Uncommon Type by Tom Hanks
A surprising, intelligent, and heartwarming collection of short stories from actor Tom Hanks. Each story features a different antique manual typewriter (Hanks is an avid typewriter collector) and a decidedly benign, humane view of people and their foibles.
Look How Happy I'm Making You by Polly Rosenwaike
Sharp and unsettling, wry and moving in its depiction of love, friendship, and family, this collection expands the conversation about what having a baby looks like.
A Lucky Man by Jamel Brinkley
Nine expansive, searching stories reflecting the tenderness and vulnerability of men and boys whose hopes sometimes betray them, especially in a world shaped by race, gender, and class—where luck may be the greatest fiction of all.
Roar by Cecelia Ahern
Thirty stories, all titled 'The Woman Who...', that capture the different facets of women's lives. Humorous, moving and poignant, the stories capture the moments the characters are overwhelmed by guilt, confusion, frustration, intimidation, exhaustion the private moments when they feel the need to roar.
Flight or Fright by Stephen King, Bev Vincent, and more!
An anthology about all the things that can go horribly wrong when suspended six miles in the air, hurtling through space at more than 500 mph and sealed up in a metal tube with hundreds of strangers. All the ways a trip into the friendly skies can turn into a nightmare, including some never thought of before.
