Summer Reading is HERE!

Level 1: Complete! Your Summer Reading quest is officially underway. 📚

The library is closed on June 19 (that's today) for Juneteenth, but this newsletter is coming to you through the magic of the "schedule email" button. I encourage you all to visit on Saturday for our Juneteenth Celebration!

It's the first week of summer reading, and we have 147 adult summer readers as of Wednesday afternoon, with a respectable 41 books finished.

Since this year's theme is all about games, we're trying something new... teams!

When you sign up for summer reading, you’ll be randomly sorted into one of seven teams. We'll send you an email to let you know which team you're in 😎

Team Progress

And they're off! The Literary Legends are in first place with 10 books, followed by The Book Worms with 8 and The Book Besties close behind with 7. The Underliners trail with 6, just ahead of The Cliffhangers and The Reading Rangers, tied at 5. Still waiting to leave the starting gate: The Hidden Gems—but just like their name, true treasures take time to shine!

Leaderboard

Our leaderboard has a few familiar names, and a few new ones! pearlmsqueaks takes the lead, followed closely by Deanna and Cathy. Finally, a five-way tie rounds out the pack, between ntine10, karogirl26, acarcio24, amjastern, and jopanda14.

Last week, I chatted with a few of our leaderboard regulars—readers who we see checking out impressive stacks of books all year long!—who were holding off beginning any new books just so they could start strong on June 16. That’s some serious dedication! 😎
