Service of Remembrance - Honoring Those We Have Lost

The holidays can be a difficult time for those who have experienced the loss of a loved one; yet it’s also an important time to remember those we’ve lost. The annual Service of Remembrance, sponsored by Avera@Home of Spencer Hospital, Abben Cancer Center, Warner Funeral Home, and area clergy, is a special time to remember those loved ones.


The candlelight memorial service was held on November 29th, but will be rebroadcasted by SMU on the following dates: Tuesday, Nov. 30 at 9:30PM, Wednesday, Dec. 1 at 12:30PM, Thursday, Dec. 2 at 11AM, and Friday, Dec. 3 at 5PM. It will also be available to watch any time during the holiday season on Hope Reformed Church's YouTube Channel - please click the button below to view.

Eligibility for COVID-19 Boosters Expanded to All Adults

All adults ages 18 years and older who received a primary mRNA COVID-19 vaccine series, Pfizer or Moderna, or those who received the one dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine, are eligible to receive booster doses to help protect them against COVID-19.


Locally, Clay County Public Health offers free COVID-19 vaccination clinics each Thursday afternoon. On Thursday, Dec. 2, public health is offering extended hours for the weekly clinic, with appointments available from noon-5 PM. Appointment can be made online by following this link: Clay County Public Health COVID-19 Vaccination Schedule or by calling the public health office at (712) 264-6380. Also, COVID-19 vaccination opportunities are available at area family medicine clinics and local pharmacies. Spencer Hospital Surgery Center Adds Orthopedic Robotics to Technology Offerings

This fall Spencer Hospital Surgery Center added the Mako robotics system to its high-tech surgery center. The orthopedic robotic technology is an addition to the robotic capabilities the hospital has offered for general and gynecological surgeries since 2015, and is part of a multi-million dollar upgrade to the surgery center.

November is Home Health & Hospice Month: End-of-Life Care for Your Loved Ones

November is recognized as National Home Health & Hospice Month - a time to spread awareness about the benefits of home health and hospice care to improve the quality of life for patients that are in their final stages of life and provide support to their loved ones during their end-of-life journey.
