Diabetes Fair Features Speakers, Resources & Heroes

Bravery and perseverance are heroic traits and are also traits of people who are conquering and successfully managing their diabetes. “There’s a Hero Inside of You” is the theme for Spencer Hospital's Diabetes Fair, set for Thursday, Nov. 15. The health fair will run from 4:00 – 6 p.m. at Hope Reformed Church with the first hour a come-and-go health fair format and the last 60 minutes dedicated to a light meal and presentations by health professionals. The fair is for anyone wanting to learn how to make healthier lifestyle choices, not just those who have been diagnosed with diabetes.
Pre-registration is required for this portion of the event and there is no cost to attend. Attendees will also have the opportunity to win an array of door prizes.

The Great American Smokeout
Every year, on the third Thursday of November, smokers across the nation are encouraged to take part in the American Cancer Society Great American Smokeout event. Encourage someone you know to use the date to make a plan to quit, or plan in advance and then quit smoking that day. By quitting – even for 1 day – smokers will be taking an important step toward a healthier life and reducing their cancer risk.
