Be Loud   by Laura Johnson, Spencer Hospital's Speech and Language Pathologist
As a speech and language pathologist at Spencer Hospital, I am fortunate to work with people of all ages from infant to great-great grandparents, and with patients with all types of diagnosis. Typically our pediatric patients don’t have difficulty being proudly loud. However, volume can be challenging for patients with neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, to find their voices.

Colon Cancer Screening is Easy; Saves Lives
According to the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH), colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in Iowa. But it doesn't have to be. It is one of the most preventable types of cancer. If you are 50 or older, a screening test could save your life!

Free "Mummy Tummy" Screenings
Visit with Spencher Hospital's women's health experts - Sarah Goodchild and Rachel Hoffman, two of our physical therapists who are specially certified in women's health issues, and Mindy Sylvester, the women's health coordinator - at CAASA's Women's Night Out on April 5th.

Mindy, Sarah and Rachel will be able to provide guidance on women's health issues and will also be offering a simple screening for diastasis rectus abdominis, which we refer to as "mummy tummy" as pregnancy is the most common cause for abdominal muscles to separate, creating a tummy bulge.
