Spencer Hospital Achieves Prestigious 5-Star Rating

Spencer Hospital has been honored with a 5-Star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). This accolade is part of CMS's annual assessment of U.S. hospitals, evaluating performance across 46 quality measures grouped into five categories: safety of care, mortality, patient experience, readmission rates, and timely and effective care.

Spencer Hospital Welcomes Medical Oncologist Through Innovative Partnership with University of Iowa Hospitals

Abben Cancer Center welcomes Dr. Luis Cuervo, a distinguished medical oncologist, as part of a collaboration with the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Cuervo will provide full-time medical oncology services at Abben Cancer Center and serve as an associate professor at the University of Iowa. This collaboration aims to bring advanced practice standards and exceptional oncology care to our region.

The Spencer medical community welcomes Northwest Iowa native Dr. Luke DeJong, a family medicine and obstetrics physician, to Avera Medical Group Spencer. Dr. DeJong will provide comprehensive services to patients of all ages, including annual checkups, treatment for minor illnesses, immunizations, preventive screenings, management of chronic conditions, and obstetrical care—from family planning and childbirth to post-natal care.
