Subject: August Newsletter: Abben Golf Classic & More!

2023 Abben Golf Classic Fundraising Event

The biggest fundraiser the Spencer Regional Healthcare Foundation holds each year on behalf of Abben Cancer Center of Spencer Hospital is fast approaching! The Abben Golf Classic is slated for Sunday, Aug. 27th at Emerald Hills Golf Club.

And, for non-golfers, you can still join the fun and support the cause… and be winners! Here are two fun ways:

  1. The Abben Golf Classic 50/50 Raffle awards half the proceeds from the “money pool” to a winner and the other half goes to benefit the work of Abben Cancer Center. Tickets are on sale in the hospital Gift Shop. Tickets are 1 for $10 or 3 for $20. In recent years, the winner has received anywhere from $600 to $1,000!

  2. Shop and support! Our online auction goes live today Sunday, Aug 13th through Sunday, August 27th, the day of the Abben Golf Classic. This auction features tons of great items donated from local businesses – time to start shopping for the holidays or yourself! Here’s the link. https://www.biddingforgood.com/SRHF

If you have an interest in golfing in the Abben Golf Classic, please contact Sara Taylor (712) 264-6226 or by email at staylor@spencerhospital.org for more details soon as spots are filling up!

Spencer Hospital Announces Internal Candidate for President Role

The Spencer Hospital Board of Trustees has announced plans to formally interview the hospital's Senior Vice President of Patient Care and Operations, Brenda Tiefenthaler, for the position of hospital president.

The hospital is hiring a new president following an announcement by current hospital president Bill Bumgarner in February that he will be retiring at the end of the year.

Breastfeeding: Benefits for Mom & Baby!

August is designated as National Breastfeeding Month, recognizing the nutritional, health and wellness benefits of breastfeeding for babies and mothers. While breastfeeding is a very natural thing to do, it doesn't always come naturally. Sometimes it takes practice, patience and breastfeeding support from professionals. Spencer Hospital's International Board Certified Lactation Consultants, Katie Fullhart and Bryn Goettsch, provide insight into breastfeeding in their latest blog.
