Celebrate Occupational Therapy Month in April - Passion. Purpose. Possibility.

April is National Occupational Therapy Month. Here at Spencer Hospital, occupational therapists work with individuals to regain function to be independent with their everyday tasks. An "occupation" is not just a job, it is the activities you do every day. For a child, an occupation may be feeding themselves. For a teenager, it may be a leisure activity of playing basketball. For an adult, it may be balancing a checkbook; and, for an older adult, it may be dressing and bathing. Despite the variety of ages and "occupations," occupational therapists work with individuals to improve their strength, motion, cognition, and development to improve their skills to live life to its fullest.

National Donate Life Month is celebrated every April to educate and encourage Americans to register as donors and consider living donation, as well as to celebrate those who have saved and healed lives through the gift of donation.

Why register to be a donor? You can save up to 8 lives and heal the lives of more than 75 people. Your registration also relieves your family of the burden of making the decision at a time of sadness and grief.

2021 Special Enrollment Period for Marketplace Coverage Extended Until August 15

The 2021 Special Enrollment Period for Marketplace coverage has been extended until August 15, 2021. This special enrollment period is for Americans who are uninsured or under-insured and in need of access to affordable healthcare coverage, offered through the Health Insurance Marketplace.

To enroll for coverage or see if you qualify for financial assistance to reduce the cost of monthly premiums, visit healthcare.gov or cuidadosalud.gov.

Consumers can also contact the Marketplace Call Center at 1-800-318-2596. Spencer Hospital has Certified Application Counselors on staff who can provide local assistance. To schedule an appointment with a Spencer Hospital counselor, please call 712-264-6124 and select Option 2 to reach a financial counselor.

Special Enrollment Period

Annual Garden of Life Planned for May 2021 in Hospital Park

Community members are invited to join in creating the annual Garden of Life in Spencer Hospital's Grand Avenue Park. Each donation for the Garden of Life campaign that is given to the Spencer Regional Healthcare Foundation in memory of a loved one or in honor of a special caregiver will be represented by a blooming plant.
