Pharoahmoans Napa Valley Red Wine 2023

The Pharoahmoans Napa Valley Red Wine 2023 was aged 15 months in 20% New French Oak, 80% neutral French oak from the Trueill and Taransaud tonnelleries. The juice was given top of the line Napa Valley treatment from a team that knows exactly what that entails, and the resulting wine carries the sleekness and energy of those high-elevation vineyards with the distinct kirsch and white pepper edge of Chateauneuf with a nice infusion of Syrah in the blend.

The critics have ALL loved this one…including triple 94’s from three very different pundits, one of the sneaky signs of a wine’s quality:

94 Points! The 2023 Red Wine is a fabulous Grenache/Syrah blend. Red-toned fruit, blood orange, dried herbs, lavender and mocha are all beautifully dialed up. Floral overtones add striking finesse and lift. What a gorgeous and vivid wine this is. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

94 Points! The 2023 PharoahMoans Red Wine..is the best vintage of this wine this taster has sampled. Pretty florals—violets and roses—join tea-like, potpourri-ish nuances and berry fruit in this medium- to full-bodied wine. Lively, fresh and complex, the palate is framed by silky tannins and displays ample length on the finish. It's a super value, as long as you're not hung up on Bordeaux varieties or fancy mid-valley AVAs. - Joe Czerwinski, RobertParker.com

94 Points! This Rhone-style blend is unusual in Napa Valley and gives dark, earthy, savory flavors on a firm texture. Full-bodied, moderately tannic and restrained in fruit flavors, instead emphasizing singed herb, oak smoke, star anise and espresso flavors. A 50-50 blend of grenache and syrah grapes. Drink now or hold. - Jim Gordon, JamesSuckling.Com

Beringer Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Private Reserve 2021

For longtime Napa collectors, Beringer Private Reserve needs no introduction. For over four decades it has represented the very best Beringer can produce, a wine that helped define modern Napa luxury long before most cult wineries even existed. And 2021? One of Napa Valley’s greatest recent vintages, the kind of year where a flagship wine like this simply soars.

What makes Private Reserve unique is that it’s not tied to a single vineyard. Instead, it is built from the estate’s finest parcels across Napa Valley, creating what many consider the ultimate “Grand Cru Blend” of Napa
Cabernet.

The foundation comes from the volcanic soils of Howell Mountain, where Steinhauer Ranch and Bancroft Ranch contribute incredible structure, concentration, and mineral intensity. Rich fruit from Beringer’s historic St. Helena Home Vineyard and Chabot Vineyard provides depth and elegance, while carefully selected fruit from Oakville’s Gamble Ranch and Mount Veeder’s Lampyridae Vineyard adds lift, complexity, and freshness. Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Malbec complete the blend, adding aromatic detail and remarkable finesse.

The result is everything Private Reserve has become famous for: tremendous depth, impeccable balance, and extraordinary aging potential.

Rocca di Montegrossi Chianti Classico Gran Selezione San Marcellino 2020

The Rocca di Montegrossi vineyards and winery are located in Gaiole (specifically the finer Monti sub-zone) and specialize in Chianti Classico as well as their famous Bordeaux-based blend, Geremia. Everything is done ‘the right way’ here. Harvest is performed by hand, with grapes collected in small cases. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled, upright wooden fermentation tanks, with indigenous yeasts. The consulting winemaker here is the exceptionally talented Attilio Pagli.

The winery’s finest Chianti Classico (and maybe the finest wine in Chianti) is their Rocca di Montegrossi Chianti Classico Gran Selezione San Marcellino 2020. It is a selection of mostly old-vine fruit (20-50 year-old vines) from a 17-acre plot near the Pieve di San Marcellino, an eleventh-century Romanesque church. Hand-harvested, this blend of 88% Sangiovese and 12% Pugnitello fermented separately on indigenous yeasts in upright wooden fermentation tanks.
