Subject: SMART Recovery Conference 2024: Call for Presentation Proposals

SMART Recovery's 30th Anniversary Conference will be held April 5-6, 2024 at the Sheraton Salt Lake City in Salt Lake City, Utah. Registration information will be released in September. There will be breakout sessions for volunteers and professionals, and we are seeking 60-minute presentation proposals for both.

The theme of our conference is SMART Empowerment for All. There has been discussion about multiple pathways to recovery for years, and we'd like to bridge the gap between talk and action. Today, through SMART's self-empowering approach, we have an unprecedented level of opportunity to make the promise of multiple pathways a reality for more and more diverse communities around our country and the world.

Sessions focused on how to make SMART available to and accessible for all in alignment with our values will be prioritized. We’re also very interested in sessions that highlight successful partnerships that have helped SMART serve more folks, as well as presentation proposals that address topics associated with Family & Friends and non-substance related addictions.

Please help shape the next 30 years of self-empowering recovery support by sharing your experiences implementing SMART in your community, school, health care facility, correctional institution, treatment center, etc.

Presentation proposals are due on October 11, 2023. Notification of decisions will occur by December 11, 2023. All presenters must agree to NOT use any stigmatizing labels in their presentations, including the most common labels alcoholic, addict, and enabler.

We hope to see you next April in Salt Lake City!
