Supplemental Info:
SITREP:
Iran has launched waves of missile and drone attacks across Gulf states in retaliation for ongoing US-Israeli strikes on Iranian targets that began 28 FEB. Saudi Arabia is among the primary targets.
Two suspected Iranian UAVs struck the US Embassy compound in Riyadh’s diplomatic quarter, igniting a visible fire. No US casualties reported; damage assessment ongoing. Loud explosions and smoke plumes were witnessed by residents.
Separately, Iranian drones targeted Ras Tanura oil refinery; Saudi air defenses intercepted several, but fires were reported at the critical energy facility. Additional Iranian strikes hit infrastructure in UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar.
The US State Department issued an immediate departure advisory for all American citizens in Saudi Arabia and 13 other regional countries, citing credible threats to diplomatic and military sites. Coalition partners (US, KSA, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan, Kuwait) issued a joint condemnation labeling the attacks “indiscriminate and reckless.”
Regional airspace remains highly contested; situation fluid with potential for further escalation. US CENTCOM monitoring closely.
