Subject: sometimes work has to wait

I had a meeting scheduled with a business partner yesterday.

We had something specific on the books - I believe it was getting a script ready for new content.

But when we got on the call, I could tell that a different conversation was needed.

He had just gone through a loss in the family.

So instead of our normal business meeting, I checked in to see how he was doing.

I'm glad I did.

There were a ton of things that had happened:

Family drama. Estate drama. Old traumas brought up from the past.

Stuff that was weighing on him way more than any script or content strategy ever could.

We spent the entire hour just talking through it.

The script could wait.

Here's what that conversation reminded me:

Sometimes we just need to take a moment to check in.

"Work" will always be there.

But it's the small things that help us connect, learn, and grow.

The willingness to pause the agenda and ask, "How are you really doing?"

The recognition that the person across from you might be carrying something heavy.

The understanding that being human comes before being productive.

This applies to everyone in your life.

Your business partners. Your family. Your friends.

But most importantly, it applies to yourself.

No matter what, check in with yourself and the people close to you.

You never know what they (or you) may be going through.

If you want an easy but powerful way to check in with yourself each day, that's exactly why I built the Daily Wellness Check-in into Curavera.

It's completely free and comes with every user account.

Just a few simple questions that help you pause, reflect, and gain perspective on how you're actually doing.

Not how productive you were.

Not how much you accomplished.

How you're doing as a human being.

Because sometimes that's the most important meeting you can have.
