When it comes to close relationships, by now you’ve likely
got this whole
thing with being “best friends” down pat.
You help give them a
confidence boost when they feel down. You’re supportive of friends when they
bomb at something. You boost them when they’re unsure of taking on new things. You
try to be an all-around uplifting influence in their lives.
These positive awesome behaviors toward our friends are perhaps
as
natural as breathing.
So how come it’s so hard to do this for ourselves?
We seldom give ourselves the credit we deserve — in spite of
the fact that
an excess of research shows that if we treat ourselves with the
same
compassion we give to others, we’d live healthier and happier lives.
Isn’t
it about time to do just that?
