Saint Gianna Beretta Molla's Devotion to Daily Prayer.
Saint Gianna’s devotion to her Catholic faith was unwavering. In spite of her busy lifestyle as wife, mother, and physician, she found time to attend daily mass, and prayer was very prevalent in her family’s lifestyle.

As a small child, Saint Gianna was taught the blessing of prayer, which carried throughout her life. Saint Gianna’s father, Alberto, traveled by train from Bergamo to Milan, a distance of 36 miles each day, for six days a week. However, before he boarded the train, he attended mass at 5 a.m. every single day. Since he received Holy Communion each day and had not eaten from midnight the previous evening so he was hungry and would eat from his lunchbox on the train. Upon Alberto’s arrival back home, Saint Gianna’s family would gather for supper. Following their meal, the members of their family would gather as Saint Gianna’s older sister, Amalia, would play the piano in which her beautiful music would permeate the entire house. Then before retiring to bed, facing a large picture of the Blessed Virgin Mary and a statue of the Sacred Heart, the entire family would pray the Rosary together every single night.

Saint Gianna was dedicated to her daily Rosary, taught to her as a small child growing up in Bergamo, and like Saint Gianna and her family, there is much evidence that supports prayer to be very powerful in numbers. The Blessed Virgin Mary stated that if all Catholics would say the Rosary daily, we could bring about world peace. In this day and age, this would be a welcome outcome!

In praying to God, we can ask for favors while also thanking Him for all His Blessings that He has bestowed upon each and every one of us!

PRAYER TO SAINT GIANNA BERETTA MOLLA

God our Father we praise You and we bless you because in Saint Gianna Beretta Molla you have given us one who witnessed to the Gospel as a young woman, as a wife, as a mother, and as a doctor. We thank you, because through the gift of her life, we can learn to welcome and honor every human person.

You, Lord Jesus, were for Gianna a splendid example. She learned to recognize You in the beauty of nature. As she was questioning her choice of vocation, she went in search of you and the best way to serve you. Through her married love, she became a sign of your love for the Church and for humanity. Like you, the Good Samaritan, she cared for everyone
who was sick, small, or weak. Following your example, out of love, she gave herself entirely, generating new life.

Holy Spirit, Source of every perfection, give us wisdom, intelligence, and courage so that, following the example of Saint Gianna and through her intercession, we may know how to place ourselves at the service of each person we meet in our personal, family, and professional lives, and thus grow in love and holiness.

Amen.

God Bless You and Your Families,

The Society of Saint Gianna Beretta Molla – Board of Directors

Morning Prayer

O, Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Your Mother, Mary, I offer You today my prayers, my sufferings, my disappointments, my joys, and all my works. I give You these together with all that is offered to You in the Sacrifice of the Mass everywhere in the world. I give this gift of today in reparation for my sins, for the needs of the people throughout the world, for the intentions and needs of my loved ones, and for our Holy Father.

Amen.

Evening Prayer

Watch, O Lord, with those who wake, or watch, or weep tonight, and give Your Angels and Saints charge over those who sleep. Tend Your sick ones, O Lord Christ. Rest Your weary ones. Bless Your dying ones. Soothe Your suffering ones. Pity Your afflicted ones. Shield Your joyous ones. And all for Your Love’s sake.

Amen.
