THE STEREOSONICS

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 10TH
7.30PM ADM £10 ADV

In 1999 our group began as a covers band playing a varied repertoire of current and classic anthems. Our set included several Stereophonics tracks and it soon became apparent that Shane had the same vocal range and a similar voice to Kelly Jones. So in the summer of 2000 we decided to venture into the world of tribute bands and Stereosonics were born under the original first name of Replicaphonics!

The band mastered the large catalogue of Stereophonics songs and began to perform live on a regular basis. Even playing a fantastic gig at the Working Man's Club in Cwmaman, Wales; where the Stereophonics played their first ever live show, due to it being Kelly, Richard and Stuart's home town! the band had the great pleasure of being joined onstage by Stuart Cable Stereophonics former drummer - which is a personal highlight for all band members. Stereosonics received many compliments that evening regarding Their performance, even being told that Shane sounds like Kelly by Mrs Jones herself! (Kelly’s Mother Beryl) they continued to perform over the years and became renowned for providing great entertainment that could not be rivalled unless you had an audience with the band themselves.

Due to family commitments and a member of the group emigrating they took a year off from the performing scene, although they continued to rehearse and hone their performance as close to the originals as possible.

They were now back with a vengeance and ready to rock the tribute music scene once again.

As the band restarted with new members, it felt that a new beginning and a new name was necessary. Formally known as the Replicaphonics, the band re-emerged as the Stereosonics.

Stereosonics are proving to be more successful than ever and continue to tour the length and breadth of the UK going from strength to strength.

D&P IN GOOD BEER GUIDE FOR THE FIFTH YEAR RUNNING!!!!

Here is a press release from Uttoxeter & District CAMRA...

Uttoxeter & District CAMRA are pleased to announce the four entrants from the district in the 2019 Good Beer Guide are Dog & Partridge Marchington, Horse & Dove Uttoxeter, Old Swan Uttoxeter and Raddle in Hollington. Entry into the GBG is amongst the highest accolades a pub can receive; this award is voted on and awarded by CAMRA Members from any area who visit the pub and score the beer for quality. You can be sure that you will get a good pint in any of the GBG pubs.

We have been able to commend pubs and clubs with our own Seasonal Awards and Pub & Club of the Year. Our winners for 2018 were Horse & Dove Uttoxeter as Pub of The Year and Doveridge Club as Club of the Year. Additionally, we are delighted to announce that Doveridge Club is also runner up in the Regional Club of the Year competition covering the whole West Midlands Camra region. This was judged by Camra Members from across the region who visited the club unannounced and scored it based on its beer, facilities and community involvement. The presentation will be made by the regional representative at 8pm on Saturday October 6th 2018 during Doveridge Club’s beer festival event.

There are many good pubs in our district and we would like to praise them all however The Good Beer Guide has a limited number of spaces and we can only recognise a few. In our area the pubs are chosen by CAMRA members across the country who, when visiting the pubs score the beer on What Pub. We, the local branch will visit the high scoring locations to validate them, with the 4 best for beer being entered in the guide.

As Chairman I am delighted that we have such an improvement in the standards in the pubs and seeing a much greater variety of beers than ever before. With 18 pubs a week closing across the country we are losing a valuable community hub from many locations. It is therefore important that we recognise pubs selling good beer and encourage responsible drinking in licensed premises in a community setting which we believe pubs can provide and encourage everyone to visit their local pubs and clubs to ensure they remain open. I would like to congratulate the four entries to the GBG and the Club of the Year for maintaining such high standards throughout the year to make them such deserving winners.

THIS WEEK WE WILL MOSTLY BE DRINKING

Peakstone’s Churnett Valley IPA 4.3
Sharp’s Sea fury 5.0
Shardlow Reverend Eaton 4.5
Shardlow Cavendish Gold 4.3
Eagle bombardier 4.1
