| A Message from Daniel Buchanan
Greetings! I hope you are enjoying the beauty and adventure of summer in the Pacific Northwest!
At Resound NW, we are having a great time singing and making music this summer! We have hosted a variety of classes, lessons, and performances so far this season.
This month, we also said farewell to our instructor Nicole Berke, who has recently moved to her hometown of Boston. Nicole has been an incredible member of our teaching staff for over a year and served countless students with voice and piano lessons. She will be greatly missed. Best wishes for your future plans in Boston, Nicole!
Coming up next month, we are offering a handful of group classes, including Song Studios on August 7 and August 21. Did you know that Song Studio classes are free to observe? Anyone is welcome to join in the singing, listen to other students, and participate in this community event.

P.S. I also wanted to let you know that I will be performing with the Portland Opera this Saturday, August 1. The show is part of a fun, family-friendly Street Fair. I will be performing a show called "Opera Improv" in which our cast will create an opera on the spot based on audience suggestions! It's a lively show and incorporates beautiful music. It's also a way to learn the nuts and bolts of what makes opera great. The shows are at 1:00pm and 3:00pm. Read more --> |

| Student Spotlight: Voni Kengla
At four years old, Voni Kengla would flop over the couch dramatically, belting out show tunes from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella a la Bernadette Peters. She knew from the start that she had caught the performing bug.
Fast forward to fall of 2015, when Voni will head to The Hartt School in Connecticut to study musical theater, a dream come true for her and one she credits to her time spent at Resound NW.
The summer before her freshman year of high school, she decided to audition for Northwest Children’s Theater (NWCT). With so little vocal training, she needed a teacher. Daniel Buchanan was recommended to her by NWCT, and she has studied with Dan ever since. Read more --> |

Song Studio Classes
"Song Studio" is a performance class where Resound NW students perform a song they have prepared and receive valuable coaching on their performance. The class includes a mini-lesson for each student plus a professional pianist to accompany him or her.
This class is fun, low-key, and an exciting way to learn about the craft of singing!
