Mondissimo 2012: must-attend seminars
Whilst many of the seminars are in French, Mondissimo now hosts a growing number of talks in the English language. This year, a number of relocation firms - and Re:locate, of course - are catering to English-speaking delegates, with discussions that tackle the burning issues surrounding global mobility.
One of the highlights of the first day is sure to be the talk led by TEAM Relocations, entitled Latest trends in global mobility – identifying new and emerging trends impacting international assignments (13 March, 14:00). The seminar, which aims to pinpoint "the changes and challenges that HR and corporate relocation professionals will need to build effective and sustainable global mobility strategies" will be hosted by Clare Hammacott, director of consultancy services at TEAM. At the same time (13 March, 14:00), Paragon GeoImmigration will present their snappily-titled talk: Hot trends in global mobility: compliance (it's the new black). Led by Elaine Martin, director of immigration services, the discussion will centre on the importance of complying with immigration and other regulations when transferring employees overseas. "Participants will learn the risks of using business visitor status and how to create a policy to reduce these risks," say Paragon. Later on the opening day of the conference, Pricoa Relocation will host a discussion dedicated to the impact of the Olympic Games on London. The talk, entitled Relocation, London & The Olympics (13 March, 15:00) will be given by David Brady, head of the Olympic Project at the firm. Say Pricoa, "This session is designed to give an overview of some of the possible challenges involved with relocating employees to the UK, and also give an idea as to some possible solutions, cost saving measures and other useful tips to handling relocations during this interesting time for the UK, and for London in particular."

François Hollande, the Socialist candidate in this year's French presidential election, is currently in London, hoping to draw attention to his campaign to rein in the excesses of world finance. Mr Hollande is battling it out with incumbent president Nicolas Sarkozy, hoping to gain an advantage before the first-round vote in April. Polls suggest that Mr Hollande currently has the lead in the race. In his first major campaign visit, Mr Hollande will discuss the European budget treaty, which he wants to renegotiate. He is also expected to address the implications of his economic policy to financial institutions, hoping to allay the fears of those in the City.
