Urgent repairs needed

Dear Friend,

This Friday, I need to share with you the latest from Mustard Seed. It's alarming.

The water system is failing. One huge water tank has already crashed from its tower (thankfully, no one was hurt), and the second main tank sits precariously on an unsafe platform (see photo above).

Without immediate action, hundreds of students and community members will lose access to clean, safe water. The alternative water source is far away in a swamp, providing water contaminated by cow dung.

You can prevent this crisis by giving a special gift to help repair the water towers and replace the critical tanks.

A little background— the water project was funded by a Rotary Club Global Grant in 2014; since then, the surrounding neighborhood has developed rapidly, and the school population has gone from 400 to nearly 800.

Engineers have advised the remaining elevated tank could fail at any moment—Heavy April rains make the repairs even more urgent.

The smaller tank that serves the Community Water Station is overwhelmed by increasing demand and needs to be replaced by a larger one.

The infrastructure is now a decade old and failing under increased demand. The tanks that store water pumped from our well are deteriorating, and the towers supporting them have weathered.

Clean water is fundamental to students' health, hygiene, education, and well-being. Without it, illness spreads, school attendance drops, and the entire community suffers.

I would hate to see that happen, and I know you would too.

So, please make a generous gift today to help repair the water towers and replace these essential tanks to ensure continued access to clean water for students and the surrounding community.

I haven't had time to update the donation page this link will take you to, but if you make a gift, I'll make sure it goes directly to the water system repairs and tank replacements.

Your gift today doesn’t just replace water tanks—it ensures the flow of good water, the first ingredient in health, education, and hope for an entire community. Please help before the remaining tank falls.

With hope and gratitude,

Elaine

P.S. The total project will cost between $3,200 and $3,500 to provide safe, clean water to over one thousand people. Your gift of any amount will help. Any extra funds will be used to help install more rainwater collection systems—easing the burden on the well system and ensuring clean water remains available for everyone who depends on it.
