Subject: Taste the Flower: Macadamia — can honey really taste nutty?

Light golden, smooth and subtly nutty — taste the flower behind the honey.

Taste the Flower™: Macadamia

One flower. One season. A completely different honey.

Most people think honey simply tastes like honey.

But when bees work a strong flowering source, the flower begins to leave its signature in the jar.

Our Macadamia Honey is light golden, mild and smooth, with a subtle nutty-floral character.

No macadamia flavouring is added.

The flavour starts with the flower.

The Flower

Before there is a macadamia nut, there is a flower.

Macadamia trees produce long clusters of small flowers known as racemes.

During the flowering season, thousands of individual blossoms become available to visiting insects — including honeybees.

This short seasonal bloom is where the story of Macadamia Honey begins.

Before the nut develops, there is nectar.

Before the honey reaches the jar, there is the flower.

The Bee Forage

Why bees work it — and why that matters.

Honeybees are important visitors to flowering macadamia orchards.

The blossoms provide nectar and pollen, and the bees move continuously through the flowering canopy while conditions are favourable.

When colonies work strongly enough on a particular floral source, the nectar they gather can influence the colour, aroma and flavour of the honey they produce.

That is how one flower can create a honey with its own recognisable character.

The Honey

What does Macadamia Honey taste like?

COLOUR
Light golden.

AROMA
Gentle, sweet and subtly floral.

FLAVOUR
Mild, smooth and softly nutty.

TEXTURE
Smooth and easy pouring.

FINISH
Clean, delicate and less intense than many darker honeys.

Macadamia Honey is an easy varietal to start with if you are new to tasting honey by floral source.

It is approachable, gentle and distinctive without being overpowering.

Different flower. Different honey.

The Harvest Story

Honey has a season.

Macadamia Honey starts long before a jar reaches our shelves.

It begins when the trees flower.

The bloom creates a temporary nectar opportunity. Bees work it while the flowers and weather allow, and then the season moves on.

That is why we think about honey as a harvest rather than as a permanently identical product.

Flowers change.

Weather changes.

Seasons change.

And real honey changes with them.

Taste It Properly

Try this before you put it in your tea.

Take half a teaspoon of Macadamia Honey.

1. Look at it
Notice the colour and clarity.

2. Smell it
Take in the aroma before tasting.

3. Taste slowly
Let a little honey warm on your tongue for a few seconds.

4. Notice the finish
Can you find the softer floral or nutty character?

5. Compare it
Taste another honey immediately afterwards.

That comparison is where honey becomes interesting.

You stop tasting only sweetness.

You start tasting flowers, season and place.

Best Food Pairings

Macadamia is one of the easy ones.

Its mild flavour means it works well where you want sweetness without overpowering everything around it.

BREAKFAST
Drizzle over oats, yoghurt, granola, pancakes or toast.

CHEESE
Pair with mild, creamy cheeses.

TEA
Use when you want sweetness without masking a delicate tea.

BAKING
Try it in muffins, biscuits, cakes and simple bakes.

DESSERT
Drizzle over vanilla ice cream, fruit or plain yoghurt.

MARINADES
Combine with mustard, citrus, herbs or a little chilli for a sweet-savoury glaze.

Or simply eat it from the spoon.

We won’t judge. ;)
