Cambridge Film Festival Announces New Programming Panel and Dates of Its 43rd Edition.

Cambridge, UK – The Cambridge Film Festival (CFF), the third-longest-running film festival in the UK, is excited to announce significant changes to its programming panel ahead of the upcoming 43rd edition, which will take place from October 24th to 31st, 2024.

Following a two-year tenure as a programmer, Savina Petkova has been appointed the new Programming Panel Lead, stepping into the role previously held by Elle Haywood, who will continue contributing as a programme advisor. Petkova, a distinguished freelance film critic contributing to prominent publications such as MUBI Notebook, Little White Lies, and Variety, has been appointed the new Programming Panel Lead. Petkova brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the panel. She has completed her PhD at King's College London, enhancing the festival's curatorial vision with her deep industry knowledge and academic insight. This transition is a testament to the festival's commitment to excellence and innovation.

Joining Petkova on the panel are newcomers Teodosia Dobriyanova and Nathasha Orlando Kappler, along with the seasoned Catalan film expert Ramon Lamarca, who has been a pillar of the festival for over a decade. Dobriyanova, a filmmaker and curator known for her work with the New East Cinema programme at the Barbican Centre, and Kappler, a passionate advocate for inclusive cinema from marginalised communities, are set to infuse the festival with diverse and vibrant cinematic selections.

Additionally, Amon Warmann, Contributing Editor & monthly columnist at Empire Magazine and a CFF programmer since 2022, will undertake a brand new role as the Festival’s Industry Curator. In this capacity, Warmann will oversee the ever-expanding CFF Industry Day and spearhead the 2024 Outstanding Contribution to Cinema Award, celebrating notable achievements in the film industry.

"We are so pleased to appoint Savina and Amon to their new roles with CFF and to welcome Teodosia and Nathasha to the Programming Panel," says Owen Baker, Cambridge Film Festival Marketing Manager. “Their collective expertise and unique perspectives promise to elevate our programming and enrich the festival experience for our audience. We are confident that this dynamic team will lead CFF into a new era of cinematic excellence."

The Cambridge Film Festival remains committed to showcasing a rich tapestry of cinematic works from around the world, fostering an environment of creativity and dialogue among filmmakers and audiences alike. This year’s programme promises to continue this tradition, featuring an array of national and international premieres, masterclasses, and retrospectives designed to celebrate and promote the art of cinema.
