Cambridge Film Festival Award Winners |
Directed by Guillermo Galoe, the film moved our jury with its intimate portrait of Madrid’s Cañada Real community and its clear, confident storytelling. The jury of Professor Tanya Horeck (feminist film and media scholar), Peter Bradshaw (film critic), and Mara Polgovsky (filmmaker and art historian), praised its “little story told in a big way… a story that evades stereotype and evinces cinema’s power for discovery.” Guillermo Galoe, unable to be with us in person, sent warm thanks to the Festival and dedicated the award to the people represented on screen, adding that the “language of cinema… has the power to transcend all kinds of borders and boundaries.” We’re proud to champion bold new voices, and this year’s Golden Punt shortlist sparked lively conversations and passionate debate as always. Thank you to our partners, volunteers and audiences for supporting the Golden Punt Award and for helping us shine a light on early-career filmmakers who are already making a mark.

The Audience Awards are a long-standing tradition at the Cambridge Film Festival, reflecting what has always been at the heart of our programme, the human experience. Best Short Film goes to MONSTERS by Andy Field and Beckie Darlington. These awards reflect what matters to our audiences: films that spark conversations and stay with you long after the credits. Scorecards were handed out at every eligible screening, covering UK-premiere features in competition and every short in the programme. Thank you for voting and championing filmmakers all week. Congratulations to all the winners from everyone at Cambridge Film Festival. |
