Subject: A quiz, a road movie, and a way to help

35 years of Thelma and Louise, back in Cambridge

no matter what happens, I'm glad I came with you.

A Quizzical Night Out

A busy start to the summer!

We kicked off June with our sold-out Big Birthday Film Quiz, hosted by quizmaster Lewis Jones. Teams battled it out in a close contest, with Team Jake emerging victorious. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made it such a memorable night.

Hot on the heels of the quiz was our Pay What You Can Afford screening of SLEEPLESS CITY, winner of the Golden Punt Award at CFF44 and the debut feature from Guillermo Galoe. The screening was followed by a fascinating Q&A with 2025 Jury Member Prof. Tanya Horeck and Dr Isaias Fanlo

35 years of Thelma and Louise

This July marks 35 years to the week since THELMA AND LOUISE premiered at the 15th Cambridge Film Festival in 1991, and we are celebrating it as part of our 45th Birthday programme.

Join us for a special screening of Ridley Scott's road movie at the Arts Picturehouse on Monday 13 July, 6 pm to 8.30 pm. A bold, funny and deeply moving story of friendship, freedom and rebellion, it remains as urgent on the big screen today as it was at its release.

Tickets are once again Pay What You Can Afford, and if you can't afford to pay, please come anyway. Everyone is welcome.

Get involved in community cinema

Are you passionate about film and interested in helping bring cinema to your local community?

Love Mill Road, in partnership with the Cambridge Film Festival, is seeking volunteers and local filmmakers to support exciting year-round community cinema projects, with an application deadline of Friday, 10 July.

This is a great opportunity to learn about film programming, gain hands-on experience running local events, and develop practical skills in the technical side of film screenings.

We're also keen to hear from local filmmakers who would like the opportunity to showcase their work as part of the programme.

And finally an easy way to support CFF...

The Cambridge Film Festival is run by the Cambridge Film Trust, a small independent arts charity. If you use Easyfundraising when you shop through participating retailers, they make a small donation to us at no extra cost for you.

Over 8,000 retailers take part, including Tesco, eBay, John Lewis, Argos, ASOS, Trainline and Booking.com. Sign up, add the browser extension, and a reminder pops up whenever a retailer can donate. One click, and you are supporting CFF as you shop.

Cambridge Film Festival is presented by Cambridge Film Trust, a registered charity with a mission to foster film culture and education for the benefit of the public, in Cambridge and the Eastern region but also throughout the UK
