Subject: Wealthy People Do This...

Hey Friend!

I've recently been reading the new Elon Musk biography by Walter Isaacson & ran across a cool little story, that illustrates something that most wealthy people seem to do.

This all went down when Elon was consulting with bankers about some financing for one of his projects and there came a point where he had to choose between 3 options.

He asked the bankers to give him more information, and then...

He paused for a minute or so (the gears turning and grinding in his head), and then suddenly, he opened his mouth and picked 1 of the 3 options.

That's not the interesting point though Friend.

The interesting part is what the bankers said about this.

They said that most of the time, after they give people the options, along with all the relevant info... People will usually turn back to the bankers and ask,

"What do you recommend?"

It was striking to them that Elon Didn't do this.

He wanted to make his own decision and once he had all the information, he made the decision without asking what anyone else thought.

The bottom line here is that successful people tend to know what they want, and they also like to make their own decisions.

Making decisions is hard for most people.

Because it's hard, society and groups tend to value those with the courage to take responsibility for moving life forward via decisions.

Thus it seems, that learning to make more and better decisions in our own lives, is a sure path to a more prosperous life.

It's always seemed to me when there is a decision to be made, all the time spent in deliberation is like "Pause mode" on life.

The game or movie of life doesn't start going again until a decision is made.

Sometimes, we do need to pause so we can make the best decision...

Other times, the cost of the pause, will be more painful than the forward movement of an 'incorrect decision.'

So yes, there are distinctions to be made here, however generally speaking, decisions seem to be the path to forward movement.

So my challenge to you today Friend, is to pay attention to how you make decisions.

Noticing how you're making choices (or not making them) currently can be an awareness that leads to progress.

This is something we can all get better at.

"I make great decisions and swiftly move forward."

That's not a bad little sentence to say to yourself as you continue to move through life and business.

Thanks for reading and all the best to you today!

PS: Today's video was on this topic, and I share a couple other cool stories about decision making from the book I mentioned above. You can watch it here if you like.

Veronique, over in Belgium brought up the word 'impulsive' and we had a great little discussion on the differences between that, and strong decision making.
