Hi Friend,
Most everyone believes that if you want to build muscle, then you must exercise hard everyday. These folks have a point. High-intensity training DOES demand lots of effort.
But here's the thing… training hard by itself is not enough. It has to be the right type of effort.
Dr Jim Flarity dispels this muscle building myth when he says, "It's not about putting in a lot of effort, it's working intelligently. It's difficult to get people to understand that a day of rest can be important, or more so, than a day of hard training. A day of rest and recovery helps to clear out the lactic acid that exercise creates. Exercise breaks down lean muscle. If you don't allow proper recovery time, when the muscle is challenged again the next day, you can overwork it and go backward. Not only will you not improve, you can actually make your body weaker."
Ouch! I think you'll agree, no-one wants to make themselves weaker.
So how do you go about training intelligently?
Well, the answer lies in managing your energy systems correctly. This means you make sure you get enough rest, recovery, and the right kind of nutrition. The result? Over time, you'll receive the greatest gains in muscle and strength.
Recovery is one of the most overlooked elements when building muscle. Fail to get enough rest outside the gym, and all your effort under the bar gains you nothing.
