With another school year complete, we are so thankful for all the work MoneySKILL instructors have done to build their students’ financial education. In 2021, we saw the highest number of new MoneySKILL student enrollments since the program was launched 20 years ago and continue to see high levels of engagement so far this year. Looking ahead, the foundation has several exciting projects and announcements on the horizon, including routine curriculum updates, revised digital resources, and major outreach initiatives.
We are also proud to announce a fantastic scholarship opportunity for current MoneySKILL instructors who are interested in attending the Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy’s National Educator Conference (NEC) in Atlanta, GA from November 4 - 6, 2022. This conference is the nation’s premier professional development event for PreK - 12th grade educators delivering financial education in the classroom. The AFSA Education Foundation will be providing a full scholarship for one MoneySKILL instructor to attend this year’s NEC, covering travel, lodging, per diem, and conference costs. If you would like to apply, please submit the following to info@moneyskill.org no later than Friday, August 5, 2022.
- Contact information (name, school and/or organization name, email address, and phone number)
- Brief description of how you use MoneySKILL, including how long you have been using the curriculum (2 - 3 paragraphs)
- Brief description of why you would like to attend the Jump$tart NEC (2 - 3 paragraphs)
Lastly, I would like to encourage you all to take a few minutes to complete our annual 2022 MoneySKILL Instructor Satisfaction Survey here. The survey is anonymous and is our primary way for collecting instructor feedback that helps inform MoneySKILL growth in the future. We appreciate your input and also welcome any additional comments at info@moneyskill.org.
Best wishes for a great summer, Rhonda Ashburn Executive Director AFSA Education Foundation

| Are you interested in a new opportunity to showcase your financial educator skills, earn some extra money, and help promote MoneySKILL? We are currently recruiting MoneySKILL instructors to serve as MoneySKILL Mentors at various regional educator conferences. Mentors would be expected to host MoneySKILL exhibit booths at conferences (such as state career tech events, Jump$tart Personal Financial Literacy activities, family and consumer sciences conferences, and more) and potentially deliver short MoneySKILL workshops. MoneySKILL Mentors will earn a competitive daily stipend based on conference exhibit and presentation duties as well as reimbursement for per diem expenses. At this time, we are particularly interested in individuals working in South Carolina, Texas, and Oklahoma, but encourage anyone interested to reach out regardless of location. To learn more about the role and how to apply, please contact info@moneyskill.org. |
| | | MoneySKILL Testimonials: We are looking for teachers and/or students who are interested in talking to us about their experience with MoneySKILL. If you are willing to share your experience, we encourage you to reach out to us directly at info@moneyskill.org. Your testimonials help us spread the word to others about the value of MoneySKILL! |
